Wild boars were imported to Alberta in the the early 1900s to help with economy but they escaped and have become wild. Producing lots of babies there are now 1000-1500 of them damaging crops. These animals are heavy, sneaky, and nocturnal. They can also occansionally become a threat to humans. Alberta (very much pro-vermin control) is offering $50 to anyone who kills one.

Trees falling from the sky

http://www2.macleans.ca/2010/11/18/trees-falling-from-the-sky/

There is a new idea that reforestation could be done much easier with airplanes. They would be dropping special containers that would drop little trees into clear areas; not areas where forests are being cut away. The idea has not been taken to with much enthusiasum but it could be a good thing with a success rate of up to 90%. Military aircraft would hopefully be used.

Coercion

A sexy looking woman with voluminous hair is blown up all over the page. HER HAIR IS HUGE. It says: finally, hair that speaks VOLUMES
1) John Frieda Collection is advertising hair products that give volume to your hair.
2) This add is trying to get people to buy their hair products without saying that they are selling hair products. They just show a picture of someone that many women would love to look like and people think that they need those hair products to get volume in their hair so that they can look THAT GOOD.

A beautiful almost naked woman being touched by a beautiful almost naked man. They are in a boat. They are wearing sunglasses so it is obviously a very hot day. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS PICTURE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL YELLOW PURSE YOU HAVE EVER SEEN.
1) Michael Kors is advertising this beautiful yellow purse(we think).
2) You see this sexy picture and you know that with this purse your life can be JUST LIKE THIS. It doesn't say anything- the picture speaks for itself.

A road that cleans the air

http://www2.macleans.ca/2010/08/19/a-road-that-cleans-the-air/

Adding a coating of titanium dioxide to concrete roads. With the help of sunlight this natural photocatalytic chemical removes nitrogen oxides. It turns pollutants that comes from cars into nitrates and they get washed away by rain. Titanium dioxide also breaks down dirt so the roads can stay cleaner. This chemical is being used in some countries to help remove pollution but other countries have yet to use this chemical is actually not very harmful or expensive and should be used to help fight pollution in our cities.
