MAGAZINE SALES!

MAGAZINE SALES!
By Debbie Drycleaner

Last Friday, September 17th, Blank High School kicked off the Annual Magazine Fundraiser! Each student was given a paper with the 2010 Magazine Campaign Notice. The campaign will run for about 2 weeks and it will be serviced by CCRP. Students are suggested not to go door to door, but to talk to family, relatives, and friends about buying subscriptions. The 2 biggest benefits that come from the magazine sales are the fact that it promotes reading and 40% OF THE PROFIT ON EVERY ORDER GOES DIRECTLY TO BLANK HIGH SCHOOL!! Not only are students encouraged to sell magazines to win prizes at the end, BUT it is also raising money that goes to making the school better! There are many subscriptions to choose out of so it’s almost impossible not to find one for almost anybody. With Christmas coming up, this is definitely something to consider.

When Jim the magazine guy came, the school had an assembly where they heard about the campaign while watching volunteers get money, prizes, and getting made fun of.  Students loved the morning and Princess Grandma(grade 11) tells us, “I was full of excitement!”. When asked about his favorite part he said, “Winning prizes! Even though I’ve never won anything.” Gas Jockey(grade 11) says, “It’s kind of good seeing that guy again, you know? He comes every year and it’s like, Cool Beans!!”. Thanks to Jim the magazine guy for touching the hearts of so many year after year.

The SRC is doing a good job of promoting the sales and they have a couple incentives to get students to start selling. Jess Hermo, in his last year of high school and president of the SRC, encourages students to keep selling, “40% comes right back to our school! So it’s a good thing.” Nelly Von Braun, a grade 11 student and part of the SRC, when asked how many subscriptions have been sold so far says, “about 35”.

If you are a student of Blank High and you don’t have the order forms needed to sell subscriptions, extra order forms and Gift cards are available from the office. Students are told this is a great opportunity to raise money for our school and you don’t want to miss out.
